Is IFC Advisors a Fiduciary? How are you compensated?

Yes. IFC Advisors is a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) with the SEC and acts as a fiduciary at all times—meaning we are legally obligated to act in your best interest, not ours.

We are compensated through advisory fees based on assets under management or mutually agreed scopes of work, not commissions. This structure eliminates conflicts of interest common at commission-based firms or bank-affiliated advisors.

What is the minimum investment to work with IFC Advisors?

IFC Advisors typically works with wealthy clients but doesn’t have a stated minimum. Each prospective client is considered independently.

Where are my assets held?

Your assets are held at an independent, third-party custodian - not at IFC Advisors. We never take physical custody of client funds.

This separation means you can view your accounts directly with the custodian at any time, receive statements independently of us, and benefit from an important layer of protection built into how the relationship is structured.

Through our secure client portal, you can also see all of your accounts - held at the custodian and elsewhere - consolidated into a single view.

What technology do you use, and how is my information protected?

Clients can access a secure online portal and a set of mobile and desktop apps that can consolidate every account into one picture of your net worth, including outside holdings such as real estate, business interests, private investments, and accounts held away from us.

Performance reporting, statements, and planning documents are available there at any time. Our planning software also lets us model decisions - a sale, a gift, or a large purchase - and shows you the short and long-term effects before you commit to anything.

We never send account numbers or personal financial details over unsecured email, and we maintain written information security and business continuity policies that are reviewed regularly.

We treat the security of your information with the same seriousness as the security of your assets. Our systems use bank-level encryption, multi-factor authentication, and a secure document vault for sensitive materials such as estate documents and tax returns.

You can control who can access the folders or files in your vault - you alone and/or your trusted partners - keeping them stored and safe for the moments when you need them most.

Technology supports the relationship. It does not replace it. You will always be able to pick up the phone and reach the advisor and support team who know your situation best.

What are your advisors’ credentials and experience?

Our senior advisors hold designations including CFP®, CFA, and CPA, with backgrounds spanning institutional asset management, tax, and estate planning.

Every client works directly with these senior advisors rather than a service team, which means the person who understands your situation is the same person making recommendations about it.

IFC Advisors was also recognized in 2025 as a Top 50 Team – Private Wealth – by Forbes in the United States.*

*The Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors and Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors rating algorithm is based on the previous year’s industry experience, interviews, compliance records, assets under management, revenue, and other criteria by SHOOK Research, LLC, which does not receive compensation from the advisors or their firms in exchange for placement or rating. Investment performance is not a criterion. A self-completed survey was used for the rating. This rating is not related to the quality of the investment advice and is based solely on the disclosed criteria.

Do you work with clients going through a liquidity event, such as selling a business or an IPO?

Yes. Liquidity events are among the most critical and time-sensitive moments in a client’s financial life, and we specialize in guiding clients through them.

Whether you are selling your business, exercising stock options, facing an IPO, or receiving an inheritance, we help you structure the transition to minimize taxes, diversify concentrated positions, and build a long-term wealth plan around your new financial reality.

We recommend engaging us months before a planned transaction whenever possible.

What is a family office, and do I need one?

A family office is a private wealth management structure that coordinates all aspects of a family’s financial life - investments, tax planning, estate planning, bill pay, philanthropic giving, and more - under one roof.

A dedicated single-family office typically requires $100M+ in assets to justify the overhead. IFC Advisors provides multi-family office services that give families with $10M–$100M access to coordinated, institutional-caliber care at a fraction of the cost.

Do you handle Tax Planning and Tax Preparation?

Tax planning is integrated into everything we do. Portfolio construction, liquidity event structuring, charitable giving, and estate design are all built with the tax consequences in mind.

We do not prepare tax returns.

Instead, we work in close coordination with your CPA throughout the year, so your tax strategy and your investment strategy are aligned rather than addressed separately after the fact.

If you do not have a tax advisor, we can introduce you to qualified professionals we work with regularly.

How is IFC Advisors different from a big bank’s advisory or private banking division?

Unlike a bank’s private banking or advisory arm, IFC Advisors is an independent RIA - Registered Investment Adviser. We have no proprietary products and do not steer you toward any particular investment. We also have independence in helping find lending solutions

This independence means our advice is driven entirely by what is right for you - toward any particular investment, fund, or lender - including lending solutions, where IFC Advisors can source financing across providers rather than a single institution.

What do IFC Advisors’ wealth and estate planning services involve?

Our estate planning service goes beyond simply referring you to an attorney or accountant.

We work in close coordination with your legal and tax advisors to design a comprehensive estate strategy, including trust structures, beneficiary designations, gifting strategies, and charitable vehicles such as donor-advised funds or charitable remainder trusts.

Our goal is to ensure your wealth transfers to the next generation efficiently, privately, and in alignment with your values.

Do you invest client assets in-house or through third parties?

IFC Advisors manages client portfolios directly, with no mandated or forced reliance on packaged third-party products or hidden sub-advisors.

We build customized investment strategies tailored to each client’s goals, time horizon, tax situation, and risk tolerance.

Our platform also provides access to institutional-quality investments - including private equity and private real estate - that are typically unavailable to individual investors outside of a major institution.

Can IFC Advisors help with generational wealth transfer and setting up trusts?

Yes. Multi-generational wealth planning is at the core of what we do.

We don't draft trust documents, but we do help families structure revocable and irrevocable trusts, establish family limited partnerships, implement gifting programs, and design educational funding strategies.

We also provide guidance on preparing the next generation to be good stewards of wealth - because transferring money is only part of the equation.

How do I know if I need a wealth manager or if I can manage my finances on my own?

If your financial life has become complex - multiple accounts, real estate, business interests, equity compensation, trust structures, or an upcoming liquidity event - the cost of coordination errors and missed opportunities typically far exceeds the cost of professional advisory fees.

Clients who benefit most from IFC Advisors are those for whom getting this right matters enormously: the stakes are high, the decisions are interconnected, and the consequences of mistakes are long-lasting.

What happens if my advisor retires or leaves the firm?

Continuity is planned for deliberately.

Every client relationship is supported by more than one senior advisor who is familiar with the family’s circumstances, documents, and objectives, so institutional knowledge does not depend on any single individual.

Our firm’s succession plan is designed to ensure that the advice you receive - and the people who know your history - remain consistent across decades and generations.

How do I get started with IFC Advisors?

The first step is a confidential introductory conversation with one of our senior advisors. There is no obligation and no cost.

We will take time to understand your situation, your goals, and whether there is a genuine fit. If we move forward, we conduct a comprehensive review of your current financial picture before making any recommendations.
